Isoneva is a marshland between Noormarkku and Pomarkku. Area is very beautiful with its ponds and dwarfed pines. First time we were in the swamp two weeks ago, the cranberries were in full bloom (The marsh was full of cranberry flowers!) and we also found some raw cloudberries.

Red throated diver, osprey, golden plower and many other bird species can also been seen there. There is some magic in the air when you see and hear red throated divers passing by :-)

Viper is our only poisonous snake and it also dwells in Isoneva. We almost walked over this individual, but luckily it was spotted before the closer encounter. Shooting a snake can be a tricky business. I’ve heard rumors that these fellows don’t see very well. At least I couldn’t move very much without snake noticing it and I was in the duckboard and snake in the marsh. Wish I had had 300mm lens already then! I’m hoping to get it tomorrow evening or Tuesday.

It is midsummer and I’m not feeling very creative right now :-/ My bike is in repair and I’m bound to our car. Well, I still can walk. However, the summer ain’t so thankful time for nature photographer after all. No matter what it is, there’s too much of it. Mosquitoes, gadflies and gnats especially. -Not seen a single gnat by this far, but I know there is plenty in Lapland. Just made a cucumber green spider my friend by offering her a meal: a mosquitoe still living. Who asked to suck my blood.

Pied flycatcher is nesting in our bird house, very nice. Everything would’ve been smooth if the bloody cat hasn’t broken the idyl. I semi-seriously considered of buying an air gun with plastic bullets to get rid of the cat. Eat mice you moron! Birds were still living yesterday, but today there has been quiet. Perhaps it is just too hot to chirp :-P

What to do in very warm summerday? Equip your camera with flashgun and short prime (just go for it, light is far too hars anyway) and try your skills with flying insects. I got sharper ones, but I like this most because of the visible wings.
