Farewell to cottage life
Posted in Uncategorized on June 26th, 2007 by adminMy head is quite empty after spending two weeks in a cottage. The place itself is beautiful, located on the shore of the River Tornionjoki. We also had a chance to keep my son and daughter with us, which was very lovely :) Two weeks went swiftly, almost too fast!
Vacation!
Posted in Uncategorized on June 8th, 2007 by adminI have been working hard this week, especially the last two days were busy and stressing. Thank God our vacation starts now! The next two weeks we’ll dwell in the cottage beside the River Tornionjoki, Arctic Circle, Lapland. No internet, no work, no worries for four weeks :)) Sounds like a plan, doesn’t it?
New gadget :))

As long as I remember, I have been dreaming of a ring flash unit. Last Monday my dream came true: I purchased Sigma EM 140 DG Macro Flash! Flash is always a flash and it has its disadvantages – reflections for example are the worst. Good second comes the dark BG’s. But, this kind of a flash unit is ment for macro shooting and it works superbly in that kind of work. When you just have to gather as much detail as possible, this is the way to go. I do not regret this purchase :))
DF’s and BF’s
Posted in Uncategorized on June 3rd, 2007 by adminMy friend arrived from Helsinki at Friday night and after a few hours sleep we started our tour in Pori’s photogenic areas early at Saturday morning. Oh boy I hate those morning wake-ups, but once awake, I’m usually very happy with the situation. This time was not an exception :)
Our first stop was at Käppärä cemetery, where my friend got a lifer: A Serin (Serinus serinus) male sang and showed up beautifully in close distance! -Too busy for camera thouhg..

Ulasoori gave me the first shooting opportunity for dragonflies this season. The Variable Bluet (Coenagrion pulchellum) rested peacefully in cattail leaf.
Lampinkoski once again showed its kind faces and I got a lifer: A Common Clubtail female (Gomphus vulgatissimus). And a male:
The Painted Lady was the most common butterfly species yesterday! Not complaining though :))
In the afternoon we kept a little break and took a nap. -It was way too hot for shooting and the light was too harsh. Kuuminaistenniemi, the legendary bird watching area, was the next place to go! It was pleasant, sunny evening for such activity. We saw four species of sandpipers and the herding cattle spotted us:

Last stop was at Enäjärvi, where I finally got the chance to hear the Great Reed Warbler! Finally I succeeded with it :) One of the best trips ever!
